Please check the photos page for the potential time paradox creating proof (props to Barry for the uploads and Sofia for the photos).

It was miraculous that Will and Eric were both able to fly in and we all could reunite for this awesome show for and awesome cause at an awesome venue that was totally packed with awesome young boppers. We also got to introduce Nik, our newest young recruit fresh out of the academy. In classic COP style we were all Zach Morris and pulled it together at the last minute and came out on top. We also stopped time and screwed with Slater's jerry curl. But I digress.

We've never formally thanked them before, but let me just take a moment to thank Jenny, Meghann and the rest of their crew for always coming to our shows and dancing like there was a local law forbidding dancing that had just been recently lifted. We're a very lucky band to have friends/fans who are trained dancers, and let me tell you, nothing gets a crowd dancing like a couple of pros amongst them freaking out to our weird songs. You guys are inspirational, so thank you. I think they were also part of the camp that was singing along and pantomiming the lyrics to "Searching High" which was shocking/unbelievably awesome.

Just when we thought we were done, the universe conspired at allow us to have one more great show.

The moral of the story: You can't keep a good band (or COP) down.Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11201346517622080198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1139204379768015862006-02-05T23:25:00.000-06:002006-02-08T00:56:15.296-06:00NEW SHOW!! That very well may have been our greatest show ever. Magical things happened. First off, Mark's introduction over the demo song on Will's keyboard was truly a thing of beauty and wonder. The horrific porno music was almost as ghastly as Mark's chesthair and cowboy boots. The fact that we were able to pull of about 2 sets (we only had to do ONE song twice) was miraculous. And our rendition of 99 red balloons was so shockingly not a train wreck, we actually kept laughing in disbelief as we played it.

Best of all, it was graduation for Will and Eric and their whole damn families were there to get down with us. It was kinda like the end of Goonies when the parents reunite with the kids on the beach and you kinda see where the Goonies get it from. When Dr. Tal jumped up and started dancing like a madman right along side Eric, I was like "ooooh I get it now."
Then in our last song, "The Greatest Story Ever Told," Will brought out his mom (without warning her at all) to join us on keyboards. In a totally Back to the Future moment Will said something like "This is the blues riff in B, watch me for the changes, and try and keep up," to his mom. She calmly sat behind the keyboard and proceeded TO WAIL LIKE NOTHING ELSE I'VE SEEN BEFORE.

It was a magical night. A great way to end a truly unbelievable year for this band. Godspeed Eric and Will, may you always keep a badge in your heart and a gun in your holster.Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11201346517622080198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1118901100718626182005-06-16T00:51:00.000-05:002005-06-16T15:27:52.376-05:00SHOW THIS SATURDAY JUNE 18TH 10PMHey, so I think we're playing our latest farewell forever performance this SATURDAY JUNE 18th 10pm at the 1800 Club in Evanston. Sadly, our famed keytarist isn't gonna be there (unless he decides to stop being such a Cosby kid* and actually show up for our final gig ever).

Eitherway, like we always do, we'll figure something out and rock the pants off/skirts up everyone there. SO BRING EVERYONE YOU KNOW. This is your last time to see the greatest out of control locomotive on the verge of a catastrophic crash thrill the hearts and minds of americans. Hope to see y'alls there. It's a bar, so feel free to relax and buy liquor from da man while you're there.

*listless and without true direction in life.Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11201346517622080198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1117886481058880522005-06-04T06:47:00.000-05:002005-06-04T07:01:21.063-05:00NITESKOOL premiere TONIGHT!!Sorry for the short notice, true believers, but tonight's the grand premiere of our video, "Searching High" at the Studio 22 Premiere at the Ryan Family Auditiorium on campus at NU. I think everything starts around 7pm. There gonna be like 10 short films and our video shown, so if you can spare 10 bucks, find a ticket, and sit in one place for a long time, YOU MUST COME!
You'll see our heads projected bigger than they've ever been, and tonight our music will be heard by more people than every gig we've ever played combined. We're talking goosebumps/retrospective depression baby. There are also rumors that Lil Gino may make an appearance. 'Nuff said.

SEE YOU ALL THERE, CHUMPS!Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11201346517622080198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1116368377370706042005-05-17T17:16:00.000-05:002005-05-17T17:19:37.373-05:00Jennbo @ E3!!Hey, so our dear lead singer was hand picked by 1up.com to go report on the E3 uberconvention going on in CA. It goes on and on about The Arcade Fire (which is great), but the important part comes in paragraph 6, where the writer mentions famed "jokey cover band" Citizens on Patrol. This marks the first time C.O.P. has been mentioned in a noncampus publication. Also of note is the picture, which was taken at C.O.P.'s secret headquarters.

And special thanks to all the fans who sent me comforting get-well emails after Alex posted about my recent crotch injury.Mark Citizenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00142965069287227595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1114484267042656852005-04-25T21:29:00.000-05:002005-04-25T21:57:47.043-05:00COP+ROBshow = successThe Niteskool show yesterday was spectacular. Rob blew the entire audience away. He's definitely the best bass playing 6th grader I've ever seen and truly rocked the place to its very core. And unlike me, his fake mustache stayed on for the WHOLE show...... that's gotta be some kind of COP record. We'll have jaw-dropping photos up soon (I heard rumors that Eric kicked his leg clear over and around Rob's head as we were playing).

And thankfully both Rob's mom and NUTV were there with cameras to document this amazing day. I'm excited to see what the nice NUTV lady does with the footage and her interviews with Rob and Jenny.

Speaking of fake mustaches, I think we may have weirded out a few members of the other bands we were opening for as some were unlucky enough to see Mark, Adam, me and Rob giddily combining fake sideburns to make giant mustaches on eachother in the men's room. Probably not what you see backstage in the bathroom at the Metro. Whatever, we made history. We also learned as a band not to wolf down questionably prepared chinese food minutes before performing.

Thanks again Rob, you were the coolest! We'll have your bio up soon!!Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11201346517622080198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1114139865252063232005-04-21T22:13:00.000-05:002005-04-21T22:17:45.253-05:00COP in the news!!Hey everyone, there's an excellent article about us and our upcoming show in Play- the magazine section of the Daily Northwestern today!! Eric totally did the interview via cell phone while on set for the music video. Gawd we're so hollywood. READ IT AND WEEP!!Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11201346517622080198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1113802139001865782005-04-18T00:10:00.000-05:002005-04-18T01:05:01.973-05:00Searching High Video Shoot: Day Three of ThreeOur first original song just got turned into a video. We're expecting our second to be the answer to the puzzle of cold fusion.

The video is completely done, and it may be the greatest thing ever committed to film- (not including news bloopers). Thanks to a small army of dedicated video people, this sucker turned out waaaaay better than any of us even dreamed. Wait till the premiere in early June..... the video is destined for great things. It may even be our next president.

Major major major thanks to Peter, Nate, Erin, Claire and the rest of Niteskool for taking Will and Jenny's nutty song and making it into a beautiful film in three busy, exciting, fun-filled days. After it was all over, we played a Carly Simon cover with Peter and the rest of the Niteskool gang on vocals. Then we played "Searching High" one last time as the crew destroyed the set like a school of piranhas, during which time a comically large piece of the set flew directly into Mark's crotch. The perfect way to end the perfect weekend.

What a wonderful time to be alive.Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11201346517622080198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1113718505228418462005-04-17T01:09:00.000-05:002005-04-18T00:31:28.446-05:00Searching High Video Shoot: Day TwoDay two was busier and even more mind blowing. Jennbo was a champ as always, meryl streeping her way to the top. The rest of the boys got to wear badges and run after this dude.

But the most important news is that we found a bass player to fill in for Will for our next show on april 24th. His name is Rob, he's an actor we met on set, and he's a bass virtuoso.

Oh yeah. He's 12. Will taught him all the songs like Obi Wan to Luke between scenes today.

these are strange magical times, indeed.Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11201346517622080198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1113631421685985652005-04-16T00:57:00.000-05:002005-04-16T01:03:41.686-05:00Searching High Video Shoot: Day oneWell day one of the shoot is in the can, and alls I can say is we're amazed. Things are looking real good..... all filmed on a steady cam, the skinniest ties on earth, slow motion stick countoffs, multiple Jenny-doppelgangers..... i'm telling you people this video will blow you away. What excited me most was seeing a classroom of real kids bopping their heads to the tune. Peter and the rest of the Niteskool crew know what their doing, and sweet lord do they do it well!

Tomorrow should be a doozy, i'm sure we'll have some hilarious pics up soon. We kept crotch punching to a minimum today, out of respect for the immense film crew.Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11201346517622080198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1112232436297316422005-03-30T19:26:00.000-06:002005-04-09T10:24:59.966-05:00sh-sh-sh-show-sh-show!!!!There has been a change to the upcoming show on the 24th. That way you don't have to reload the page for each photo. It's not the best way of doing things but it's an improvement. I can probably add captions but I'll leave that decision up to you mojambo's.

Also, the news page is gone. No need for it with this fancy blog. Instead I put up a videos page. Jenn, I tried the thing you said about editing the .mov file, but for some reason my copy of Vegas doesn't want to load videos. Would you be able to give it a shot? I'd like to cut Adam's video from the Keg into different files by song, and in mpeg format if possible.Barry Kardonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1110441993279411422005-03-10T01:41:00.000-06:002005-03-10T02:06:33.283-06:00our token superstar....Massive props to Will for being all over the latest issue of Rolling Stone. I picked up a copy today and my mind was officially blown as I read David Bowie explaining how awesome The Arcade Fire is. The article was written about the band's recent triumphant trip to NYC, which Will jetted off to between two microscopic, local COP shows. He plays with us at Shanley Pavilion (yes, the boarded up cabin) goes to NYC, plays on Conan, appears in Rolling Stone, sings on stage with David Byrne, and then comes back to Evanston just in time for us to play the 1800 Club.

I'm just saying that life is magical and hilarious, that's all.Alexhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11201346517622080198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10974983.post-1109747035603668612005-03-02T00:52:00.000-06:002005-03-02T01:05:54.316-06:00The internet is now complete.
